Symmetrikit SymmetriSleep

The Symmetrikit SymmetriSleep combines configurable postural supports with a pressure-relieving Airmantle® and temperature-regulating covers to create a structured sleep positioning system for adults with complex postural needs.

Unlike fixed moulded systems, SymmetriSleep is built around the individual. A hook and loop receptor sheet creates a stable base layer, allowing brackets and cushions to be positioned precisely where support is required. This means supports are fitted to the person – not the other way around – and can be adjusted quickly as needs change.

A range of cushion shapes and bracket sizes are available to address asymmetry, rotation and complex body shapes. ILS trained Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs) work collaboratively with therapists, families and clients to assess individual postural presentation, pressure risks and tolerance. Following assessment, the most appropriate combination of supports is recommended to form an effective overnight positioning plan.

The system allows a gentle, progressive approach to 24-hour postural care. Supports can be introduced gradually during the day or night as tolerance builds, helping to improve symmetry, protect joint integrity and counteract the effects of gravity. When clinically indicated, rotational support can be applied to assist with chest shape management as part of a broader therapy program.

The Airmantle layer moulds to the body, redistributing pressure and supporting microclimate management. CoolOver® covers with Omnitherm® technology help regulate skin temperature by absorbing and releasing heat as needed, while enhanced wicking reduces skin humidity. This supports comfort for those who cannot independently adjust bedding overnight.

SymmetriSleep can be used on a variety of bed types, including profiling beds and air mattresses. Once the base layers are in place, transfers can occur on a flat surface before positioning supports are applied.

By reducing the need for frequent repositioning SymmetriSleep provides more consistent overnight positioning and may contribute to improved sleep quality and easier overnight care.
