Overview:
The special needs vehicle positioning harness is designed for children and adults with conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Down Syndrome, Asperger’s disorder, developmental delay, or other behavioural challenges that affect attention and safety while travelling. It provides a safer means of transport for those with special needs.
Description
In addition to providing safety, the harness can also be used to offer postural support and assist in seating the user in an upright position for those with physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy and other significant physical disabilities or complex needs where extra support and positioning is required during travel.
The harness is worn before entering the vehicle and features a waist belt and chest strap that fasten behind the passenger’s back with side-release buckles. It is suitable for use in single and bench seats and can be used in various modes of transportation such as buses, planes, and taxis.
To ensure compliance with safety regulations, the harness must be worn in conjunction with the vehicle’s safety belt. It is important to conduct a safety and risk assessment to consider the potential dangers of not having the passenger properly secured during travel.
A safety webbing slicer is included with every harness and should be kept in the vehicle as a precaution.
