Brisbane – Little Bodies on the Move: Supporting Kids with Standers
A 3-hour hands-on clinical education for therapists.
As paediatric therapists we understand and acknowledge the importance of “on-time” postural support and mobility interventions to provide optimal gross motor development for children.
Making the best decisions in choosing the most appropriate equipment means we must consider a child’s developmental, postural support, and mobility needs.
For those users with more complex presentations these choices in appropriate frame scripting and postural support set up can be even more challenging.
Please join us for a beginner to intermediate level workshop, where we will have an in depth look at Supported Standing for children and young people with moderate to complex needs.
We will explore:
• Postural management concepts, Typical gross motor development and “On-Time” postural and mobility support
• The current research supporting stander use
• Key assessment parameters for the prescription of Postural and Mobility support assistive technology equipment
• The equipment options available for supported standing.
• Clinical choice making and scripting option decisions for standing equipment.
The opportunity to be hands on with a wide range of equipment options will be provided, aimed at building confidence and understanding of when these solutions may be clinically indicated.
