Client Assessment-Posture/MAT Evaluation, Seating Solutions, Power Seating, and Power Assist Product Options
This One-Day ILS Education Series event will provide a comprehensive framework and the hands-on assessment skills required when prescribing postural management and wheeled mobility devices. Without postural control and a functional sitting position, we cannot truly assess a person’s wheeled mobility capabilities. We will introduce assessment tools and outcome measures that will help us understand the person, their goals, roles and responsibilities and how this can positively impact outcomes.
Attendees will be placed into small groups to customize the training based on their level of experience. We will practice assessment of asymmetric postures of the pelvis, spine, and the hip and knee joint angular measures, which affect the seated posture. Following the MAT evaluation, case studies will enable participants to translate the assessment findings into equipment parameters. Participants will have a chance to work with seating products in order to understand the design for postural control, pressure management and function. This workshop will include practical approaches to conducting the MAT evaluation in the community setting.
