ILS Clinical Education Webinar Series: Short Specialty Topics in Pressure Care: Aging Skin, Bariatrics and Palliative Care

Aging Skin and Pressure Injury Risk
Aging skin is at an increased risk of pressure injuries. In this education session, Sarah Uncle (Clinical Educator and OT) will teach you about the changes that occur in the layers of the skin as we age and why these changes increase pressure injury risk. You will also learn about how pressure care support surfaces mitigate these risk factors for aging skin.
Pressure Care for Bariatric Clients
Bariatric patients are at an increased risk of pressure injuries. Our Clinical Educator, Sarah Uncle, will explain why patients who are overweight or obese are at an increased risk and she will educate you on the clinical practice recommendations for the prevention of pressure injuries in this patient group.
Pressure Injuries in Palliative Care
Palliative care is a high risk setting for the development of pressure injuries. Quality of life, relief of suffering and impeccable management of pain are the goals of palliative care and therefore pressure injury prevention and treatment need to be a major focus of patient care at end-of-life. This short webinar will discuss the concept of unavoidable pressure injuries and skin changes in this population. You will learn what the 2019 International Clinical Practice Guidelines say about the prevention and treatment of pressure injuries in palliative care.
