Why are my batteries only lasting for a few days?
If your batteries are only lasting a few days, this probably means you are failing to properly turn OFF the laser device after use. You may be inadvertently leaving the device in the STAND-BY position. To test if the machine is fully turned off after use, it should not be possible to emit laser light when pressed onto skin in the OFF position.

How do I tell if the batteries are low?
Low batteries are very easy to detect – when turning your PhysioCare Laser on, it will beep almost continuously. When applying the laser to the skin, you won’t be able to get a full 1-minute cycle out of the diodes – the laser will keep turning on and off, indicated by repeated beeping. Sometimes, the batteries can also become displaced, especially after continuous physical handling of the laser. Please first make sure that batteries are securely fastened in place if the laser doesn’t operate as expected.

How long do the batteries last?
They should last through 3-4 hours of continuous use. If using for just a few minutes at a time, they should last several weeks provided that the laser is fully switched off after each use. 

How many years will the laser last?
With correct usage and servicing every 3-4 years, the PhysioCare Laser should last many years. Every SYMBYX Laser is guaranteed to emit the correct therapeutic dosage over its entire life, provided that all instructions are carefully followed. This is what differentiates the PhysioCare Laser from cheaper alternatives available online.

How does laser therapy actually work?
Our laser therapy is often called low level or cold laser because it doesn’t actually heat the skin/body when applied. You will feel the laser touching your skin, but each treatment, which takes a few minutes only, is pain-free, heat-free and non-invasive. 
When laser light – at the correct wavelength – is applied during treatment to a pain or inflammation site, it sets off a cascade of healing biochemical reactions.  The body tissue, through the mitochondria in the cells (which is essentially one large chromophore that absorbs light as in plants), absorbs the infrared light and produces more energy. The damaged cells respond with a physiological reaction that promotes tissue repair and healing. There is very strong scientific evidence available explaining and substantiating this process.
Is there any high-quality peer-reviewed research supporting cold laser therapy as an evidence-based, effective treatment?

What are the differences between LED and laser therapies?
The differences between Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) and lasers are in speed, transmitting distance and consistency. In summary, lasers operate at much faster speeds than LEDs, are more intense and can also transmit light much farther distances with fewer errors. Hence medical laser devices cost more to produce because they are stronger, more consistent and more effective for medical purposes. However, be aware that there are large differences in the quality and efficacy of available laser devices and LEDs for sale on the internet. Many do not come with regulatory approval, the necessary scientific research or therapies specific to the condition.

Are SYMBYX Lasers approved?
Yes, all of our lasers, including the PhysioCare Laser, are CE marked and TGA approved for pain & chronic inflammation reduction and general tissue repair.

Are there any negative side-effects to using medical lasers like PhysioCare?
No, there are no known adverse side effects. However, please note that we do not recommend therapy over primary or secondary tumours, on pregnant women, on patients who have experienced strokes or who may be photosensitive (i.e., sensitive to light as with many epilepsy patients), or over tattooed body areas. They should also never be used near the eyes or thyroid area. 

Does this type of laser therapy hurt?
No. Patients should feel no pain, vibration or heat when using our devices. In fact, one of the biggest advantages of SYMBYX Lasers are our highest quality product and clinical testing medical research protocols. SYMBYX lasers are manufactured exclusively in Sweden. They are approved, safe and suitable for home use, gentle on skin and easy to self-operate.

Can I trust laser cheaper alternatives (like LED LIGHT therapies) on the internet? Can I use these instead of the PhysioCare Laser?
We cannot advise you on other laser or light products. Keep in mind that there is a vast difference between LED devices and laser devices and that our laser devices are of medical grade. Furthermore, and perhaps most importantly, in order to be effective, any device must be used in the correct dose or wavelength for the specific condition being treated. We suggest you check the following information carefully before purchasing: Does the laser have regulatory (government) approval for the specific claimed use? Is it backed by published, peer-reviewed, scientific research? Are the credentials of the company that owns and promotes the laser clearly outlined and available? Can you see and verify who are the actual people and team and manufacturer behind the website and company? Can you independently verify their educational qualifications and scientific claims? Does the company behind the laser offer clinician advice and direct personal contact for follow up questions or treatment protocols? Is there a product warranty for faulty devices? Is the device made by a reputable manufacturer that is identifiable with an address and specific contact details? (The manufacturers details should always be clearly marked on the actual laser product being sold).

How long before I start feeling the benefits of a PhysioCare Laser?
Most customers begin to notice a reduction in pain after just 3-4 treatments, but results will vary from person to person and depend on the size and severity of the pain or specific ailment. Please see specific guidelines for your body ailment in the Instruction Manual that comes with each of our devices.

I am Pregnant. Are all of any of your lasers safe for me to use?
Whilst laser therapy may be safe, we do NOT recommend the therapy for pregnant women as there is currently insufficient research to support this type of usage. Specifically, we mean over the stomach area. It is perfectly safe for pregnant women to use the PhysioCare Laser on aches and strains in the general neck and back are and, of course, limbs.

I have Epilepsy. Is laser therapy suitable for me?
No, sorry. If you have epilepsy are photosensitive, or have ever experienced a stroke, we do NOT recommend laser therapy.

I am post cancer and wondered if I could use the PhysioCare Laser by SYMBYX to help ease my neuropathy (i.e., nerve-related pain, tingling or numbness in my toes and fingers)? Is it safe and effective?
Yes, our PhysioCare Laser is safe for post cancer patients and we have many customers who have found some relief from neuropathic symptoms. Such symptoms are often a side effect of taking chemotherapy drugs.

I am recovering from surgery on my wrist, knee, ankle, etc. Should I use the PhysioCare Laser?
Yes, in fact many SYMBYX customers have great results from using our PhysioCare Laser to assist in the post-operative recovery process. 

Which areas of my body can I use the PhysioCare Laser on?
You can use your PhysioCare Laser on your entire body except over your thyroid gland, genitals and on, or into, your eyes. Although the PhysioCare Laser emits light in the infrared spectrum (which is completely invisible to the naked eye), it is still a high-grade medical device that delivers continuously super-pulsed 60 mW of energy whilst activated. 

What is the recommended age to use SYMBYX lasers?
We advise that users of our devices be over 16 years of age. Adult supervision is required for any patients 8-16 years of age.  We do not advise laser therapy for children under 8 years of age.
