This webinar will cover some of the fundamental strategies we should put in place to prevent pressure injuries.
November 17th is Worldwide Pressure Injury Prevention Day which gives us an opportunity to stop and put pressure care at the front of our minds. We want every clinician to know the evidence-based, best-practice recommendations for preventing these avoidable and potentially life-threatening injuries. This webinar will cover some of the fundamental strategies we should put in place to prevent pressure injuries including risk assessment, support surface selection in lying and sitting, repositioning, skin checks, and staging of pressure injuries.
- The participant will be able to name 7 risk factors that will place a client at higher risk of developing a pressure injury
- The participant will be able to articulate the differentiating features of a pressure care foam mattress, a hybrid mattress, or an alternating air mattress.
- The participant will be able to identify 2 best practice recommendations for repositioning clients who are immobile in lying and sitting.
- The participant will be able to state the 3 key principles of pressure injury prevention in the selection of seat cushions
